South Africa: Christmas on the Beach

While Central Europeans connect Christmas with snow, frost patterns on the windows and cosy evenings by the fireside it is nothing unusual for South Africans to spend Christmas on the beach. But despite the weather being warm enough for bathing they do not do without Chrismassy ambience. At the Cape as well windows are decorated with glittering cloth, wool and gold foil.

Cape of Good HopeFor the natives of South Africa Christmas is a carnival-like party. People prepare festive meals, they sing and dance and it is a time of liveliness and happiness.
