Argentinia: Boots at the front door The celebration in Argentinia begins with all people going to church together. Before that the houses are decorated with red and white garlands, Christmas trees are decorated with colorful lights and ornaments and the boots of Santa Claus are fixed at the front door. After the service the families come together for a festive dinner. A vast variety of customary delicacies is served: pork, turkey, fried tomatoes. At midnight someone proposes a solemn toast. Everybody raises one's glass which is filled with a punch made of fruit, juice and cider. After that the grown ups go over to dance or to play while the young people can't wait to get on the street to see the great fireworks on Christmas Eve. Not until very late, short before going to sleep, it is time for the presents. The population of Argentinia is Catholic at 92 per cent. Reference: Content-Team Globalheads GmbH |
