Ecuador: Going to church on Llamas On Christmas the Indians wend their way from the plateau of Ecuador down to the lower-lying estates of their employers. Their colorfully decorated Llamas are loaded up heavily with the fruits of the earth and other gifts. These are put down at the crib in the manor house. In front of the crib the children pray for the blessing of their families and their animals. Afterwards a great open-air party begins with a lot of singing and dancing. The feast usually contains roast lamb, baked potatoes and sweetmeat. The left-overs of the opulent meal are shared out between the Indians. They load their Llamas with the food and begin their journey home. Reference: Content-Team Globalheads GmbH |
