Estonia: Devils on Broomsticks Traditional records say that during Christmas time devils riding on broomsticks move through the country. To prevent them from playing naughty tricks on people all brooms have to be particularly clean from the first sunday in Advent until Christmas. During the season of Advent little gnomes bring sweets and fruit to the children; the official responsible for the presents on Christmas Eve is called Jouluvana.
